The tracker relies on a massive anonymous relay network consisting of iPhones, iPads and Macs worldwide.
Here is the full workflow:1. Once your item goes missing and moves out of your phone’s Bluetooth range, the tracker keeps transmitting encrypted signals.
2. Any passerby’s Apple device that detects these signals will anonymously capture the data and upload it to Apple’s iCloud server.
3. You may open the Find My app to view the last location where your tracker was scanned by a stranger’s Apple device.
The whole process stays fully anonymous: passersby cannot see who the tracker belongs to, and you cannot access any information about the passerby’s device, protecting privacy on both sides.
